Advisory Board Established

(August 14, 2006 SPC Epicenter) SPC
President, Dr. Carl Kuttler welcomed members of the newly formed
advisory board for the Applied Ethics Institute.
SPC
campus provosts and ethics faculty members were also present to
welcome the board at the inaugural meeting.
The first of several meetings
planned for 2006-07 included an overview by Applied Ethics Institute
Director, Professor Keith Goree along with the mission, vision, and
the beginning framework of an organizational plan to advance ethics
in the community.
Initiatives include "Character
Education in Pinellas County Schools," Kids and Character:
Story-Time at the Library, "Hardwired to Connect," Ethics
Beyond Compliance," Business Ethics Roundtable," and "Ethics for
Educators."
The St. Petersburg College Applied
Ethics Institute will be one of four national "best practices"
models invited to host a colloquium for directors of national ethics
centers by the Association of Practical and Professional Ethics at
the annual meeting to be held in Cincinnati in 2006.
A chairmen is expected to lead the
board at the next meeting scheduled for November 12, 2006.

Ethics Professor Nicholas Manias
(above) and Professor Keith Goree developed a strategic plan for the
Applied Ethics Institute in 2004. SPC's Applied Ethics
Institute will be one of four national "best practice" models at the
2007 annual meeting of the Association of Practical and Applied
Ethics in Cincinnati.
